Multi-stage and clutched steering

Edson's multi-staged and clutched steering allows large sailing yachts to be steered with ease, while retaining all of the helm feel and feedback that makes sailing so enjoyable. Multi-stage steerers provide multiple steering speeds to allow for fingertip control when sailing in full power conditions, and faster steering for in-port maneuvering. Clutched steerers disconnect the wheel from the steering system when the yacht's autopilot is engaged, reducing the load on the autopilot and increasing safety and convenience in the cockpit.

Steering transmission is designed to give as direct a steering response as possible. Shorter runs are handled by the highest quality stainless chain and cable, while longer runs use carbon torque tubes to maximize response and eliminate cable backlash.
